The much-awaited Amarnath Yatra 2026 Registration will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28, according to an official announcement by Manoj Sinha. The annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave in south Kashmir will run for 57 days this year, making it slightly longer than some previous editions.
The announcement was made after a meeting of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), chaired by the Lieutenant Governor at Lok Bhavan. Officials confirmed that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage for thousands of devotees expected to take part.
Amarnath Yatra 2026 Registration Process
The amarnath yatra 2026 registration process will officially open on April 15. Registration is mandatory for all pilgrims planning to participate in the journey. Authorities have set age limits for participants, allowing only those between 13 and 70 years to undertake the pilgrimage.
Devotees can complete the amarnath yatra 2026 registration through two methods:
- Offline registration at around 556 designated bank branches across India
- Online registration through the official website of the shrine board
Several major banks will facilitate the registration process through their branches, including Yes Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Axis Bank.
Officials have advised pilgrims to complete their registration early to secure their preferred travel dates.
First Puja on June 19
Before the official start of the pilgrimage, the traditional first puja will be performed on June 19, coinciding with the auspicious Hindu occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima. This ritual marks the ceremonial beginning of preparations for the annual yatra.
Routes for the Amarnath Yatra
Pilgrims undertaking the journey to the holy shrine can choose between two established routes:
- Nunwan–Pahalgam Route
- Distance: 48 km
- Location: Pahalgam
- This is the traditional route, known for its scenic landscapes and gradual ascent.
- Baltal Route
- Distance: 14 km
- Location: Baltal
- This path is shorter but steeper, often preferred by pilgrims seeking a quicker journey.
Both routes ultimately lead devotees to the revered Amarnath Cave, where the naturally formed ice Shivling is worshipped as a manifestation of Lord Shiva.

Large Turnout Expected

The administration is also working on improving security, medical facilities, and logistical arrangements along both routes to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for all devotees.
