Surat is all set to witness a significant milestone in its tourism and urban development journey as the much-awaited Dumas Sea-Face Phase 1 project is scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow. Developed by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), the new attraction at the famous Dumas Beach aims to transform the area into a modern and internationally appealing tourist destination.

The grand inauguration of Dumas Sea-Face will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, near the Ganesh Temple along the Dumas coastline. The ceremony is expected to draw attention from residents, tourists, and city officials as the project promises to enhance the overall experience for visitors at one of Surat’s most popular seaside spots.

CR Patil to Inaugurate the Project

Originally, the inauguration ceremony for the Dumas Sea-Face project was planned to be conducted by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. However, due to changes in the schedule, the responsibility of inaugurating the project has now been given to Union Minister and Navsari Member of Parliament C. R. Patil.

The official event will begin at 4:30 PM on Sunday, with a public ceremony near the seaside Ganesh Temple at Dumas. City authorities and local leaders are expected to attend the program, which marks the completion of the first phase of the ambitious coastal development initiative.

Massive Development Projects Worth ₹920 Crore

While the inauguration of Dumas Sea-Face Phase 1 will be the highlight of the event, the program will also showcase a series of large-scale development initiatives for the city of Surat.

According to officials, projects worth ₹673.12 crore that have already been completed across different zones of the city will be formally opened to the public during the event. These projects cover several infrastructure and civic development works aimed at improving urban facilities for residents.

In addition, foundation stones will be laid for upcoming development projects estimated to cost ₹247.80 crore. These projects are expected to further strengthen the city’s infrastructure, boost urban amenities, and contribute to Surat’s continued growth as one of India’s fastest-developing cities.

Key Features of the Dumas Sea-Face Project

The newly developed Dumas Sea-Face is designed with the vision of turning Dumas Beach into a modern and attractive tourism hub. The project introduces several features aimed at improving the visitor experience while preserving the natural beauty of the coastal area.

Some of the major highlights of the project include:

  • A well-designed seaside walkway (walkway promenade) for visitors to enjoy scenic views of the Arabian Sea
  • Comfortable seating areas for families and tourists
  • Landscaped green spaces to enhance the visual appeal of the coastline
  • Modern tourist-friendly infrastructure and public amenities
  • Improved accessibility and organized public spaces along the beach

The development aims to provide a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment for locals and visitors alike.

Boost for Tourism and Local Economy

Officials believe the completion of Dumas Sea-Face Phase 1 will play a crucial role in boosting tourism in Surat. Dumas Beach has long been one of the most popular weekend destinations for residents of the city and nearby regions. With the addition of modern infrastructure and aesthetic improvements, the area is expected to attract a larger number of tourists in the coming years.

The project is also expected to generate new employment opportunities for local residents through tourism-related activities, small businesses, and service sectors around the beach area.

As Surat continues to expand as a major commercial and cultural hub in Gujarat, projects like Dumas Sea-Face highlight the city’s efforts to combine infrastructure development with tourism promotion.

With the inauguration just around the corner, residents are eagerly waiting to experience the transformed seafront that promises to add a new landmark to Surat’s growing list of attractions.
