The crime took place on December 4, 2025, in Kanpar village near Atkot in Rajkot district. According to the prosecution, the victim, a young girl, was playing near a farm labourer’s garden with her siblings around noon when the accused arrived at the spot on a motorcycle.
Taking advantage of the situation, Dudwa forcibly abducted the child and dragged her into a nearby secluded area. There, he subjected her to extreme sexual violence, leaving her critically injured and bleeding profusely. After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene, abandoning the child in a grievously injured condition.
The child’s screams alerted her aunt, who was nearby at the time. She rushed to the spot and immediately called the girl’s father and other family members. Realising the seriousness of the situation, the family wasted no time and arranged for emergency medical help.
Emergency Medical Response and Fight for Life
The injured child was first taken to the public hospital in Kanpar village by ambulance. Given her critical condition and excessive bleeding, doctors referred her to Jasdan Government Hospital for advanced care. Later the same evening, at around 9 pm, she was shifted to Rajkot Janana Hospital for specialised treatment.
Doctors from multiple departments, including radiology and gynaecology, were consulted to assess whether emergency surgery could be performed. After intensive medical intervention, the child survived, though she remained unconscious for a significant period. Medical experts later confirmed that timely treatment had saved her life.
During this period, the girl’s father informed the local police about the incident. Since there were no immediate eyewitnesses to the crime, police initially launched a detailed investigation based on circumstantial evidence and local intelligence.
Swift Police Action and Arrest
On December 8, 2025, just four days after the incident, police arrested Ramsingh Dudwa on suspicion. During custodial interrogation, the accused led investigators to a spot under a tree in Kanpar village, where he had hidden a bloodstained iron rod believed to have been used during the crime.
Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials were called to the location to collect evidence. Investigators recovered hair samples and other biological material from the scene. These samples, along with the iron rod, were sent for forensic examination.
DNA analysis played a crucial role in the case. Reports confirmed that the hair recovered from the crime scene matched the DNA profile of the accused. Additionally, blood found on the iron rod was confirmed to belong to the victim. These findings provided irrefutable scientific evidence linking Dudwa to the crime.
Chargesheet Filed in Record Time
Police also seized the accused’s mobile phone and analysed call detail records (CDR). The data placed Dudwa in the vicinity of Kanpar village at the time of the incident, further strengthening the prosecution’s case.
Demonstrating exceptional efficiency, the investigating team completed the entire probe and filed a comprehensive chargesheet within just 11 days of the crime. Legal experts have praised the investigation for its speed, accuracy, and reliance on forensic evidence.
During this time, the victim’s father submitted a detailed written plea to the court, urging swift justice and the harshest possible punishment for the man who had destroyed his daughter’s childhood. His appeal resonated with public sentiment across the region.

The trial progressed at a rapid pace in the Rajkot Special Court. After examining medical reports, forensic evidence, witness statements, and arguments from both sides, the court found the accused guilty on January 12, 2026, just 35 days after the incident.
The court initially scheduled the sentencing for January 15, but it was later postponed to January 17. On Friday, Judge V.A. Rana delivered the final verdict, sentencing Ramsingh Dudwa to death. In his remarks, the judge observed that the crime reflected extreme brutality and a complete disregard for humanity.
