Araria Murder Case: A shocking and brutal incident in Bihar’s Araria district on Thursday turned a busy marketplace into a scene of horror, leaving two people dead and the entire area gripped with tension. The Araria Murder Case: has drawn widespread attention after a man allegedly slit another man’s throat in broad daylight and placed the severed head in the middle of the road, triggering a violent mob reaction that ultimately led to the death of the accused as well.
The gruesome crime occurred near Gate No. 2 of the Marketing Yard in the jurisdiction of the Forbesganj police station. According to local authorities and eyewitnesses, the victim has been identified as Mohammad Navi Hussain, a pickup driver who supported his family by transporting goods. The accused, identified as Rahul Chauhan, reportedly ran a small stall selling sattu (a traditional drink made from roasted gram flour).
Brutal Attack in Broad Daylight
According to people present at the scene, the violent confrontation began in the morning when Mohammad Navi Hussain arrived near Rahul Chauhan’s stall. Initially, it appeared to be a verbal argument between the two men. However, the situation escalated rapidly.
Eyewitnesses claimed that Navi Hussain made a comment about Rahul’s wife while speaking to him. The remark reportedly angered Rahul, and what started as a heated exchange quickly spiraled out of control. Within moments, Rahul allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Navi Hussain.
Witnesses said Rahul first stabbed Navi Hussain in the stomach. As the victim collapsed, Rahul reportedly sat on his chest and slit his throat with the knife. The attack was so brutal that he allegedly severed the victim’s head and placed it in the middle of the road.
The horrifying nature of the killing shocked everyone present. People in the area were too frightened to approach Rahul immediately, as he stood there holding the knife.
Accused Remained at Scene With Knife
After committing the crime, Rahul reportedly remained at the spot for nearly five minutes, still holding the knife in his hand. Witnesses said no one dared to approach him during that time out of fear.
Just a few feet away lay the body of Mohammad Navi Hussain, separated from his head. Reports suggest that the victim’s torso was found about ten feet away from the severed head. While the head was placed in the middle of the road, the body lay near the roadside.
There was water collected near the spot where the body lay, and according to eyewitnesses, the victim’s blood turned the water red, creating a chilling scene that left bystanders horrified.
Some locals claimed Rahul appeared to behave erratically after the attack, almost like someone who had lost control. They said the act of severing the head and placing it in the middle of the road indicated extreme rage and lack of remorse.
Mob Attack Leaves Accused Dead
Once the victim’s family and other locals learned about the brutal murder, the situation quickly turned chaotic. A large crowd gathered at the scene, and anger spread rapidly among those present.
Furious residents reportedly surrounded Rahul Chauhan and began assaulting him. The mob beat him severely, leaving him critically injured.
Some people eventually managed to move Rahul away from the crowd and rushed him to a nearby hospital in an auto-rickshaw. However, doctors later confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
With both the victim and the accused dead, the Araria Murder Case: has now taken a complex turn involving both homicide and mob violence.
Long-Standing Dispute Over Parking
Local residents told police that tension between the two men had existed for some time. According to them, disputes often occurred because Navi Hussain would park his pickup vehicle near Rahul’s sattu stall.
Rahul reportedly objected to the parking repeatedly, and arguments between the two had become common in recent weeks.
On Thursday morning, the disagreement allegedly intensified when Navi Hussain arrived again and parked his vehicle nearby. The argument escalated further after the alleged comment about Rahul’s wife, which reportedly pushed Rahul into a violent rage.
Victim Supported Family of Five
Family members of the deceased have expressed deep grief and anger following the incident.
Mohammad Ali Hussain, the victim’s brother, said Navi Hussain was the sole breadwinner of the family. As a pickup driver, he worked hard to support his wife and three children.
“He had no serious dispute with anyone,” the brother said. “We have lost our brother. We want justice.”
The victim’s family also warned that if strict action is not taken, they would protest and even set fire to the local vegetable market.
Violence and Road Blockade After Incident
The incident triggered widespread unrest in the area. Soon after the killing, hundreds of people gathered near the site, creating a tense atmosphere.
Angry protesters blocked the road near Subhash Chowk and set fire to objects on the street, disrupting traffic and causing panic among commuters. Several shops in the surrounding market were quickly shut down as tensions escalated.
Authorities rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control and prevent further violence.
